In the fall of 2000, Oakstone Academy opened their doors to 34 children in preschool and kindergarten. Initially housed in donated space at an area church, today Oakstone Academy owns three facilities and serves over four hundred children and their families. Although the school was originally started to allow for the inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorders, the dedication and commitment to develop a program of excellence for average and above average students never wavered. This commitment led to some of the schools first monies being used to purchase daily Spanish instruction and enriched music instruction, as well as state-of-the-art curricular materials and technology.
The tradition of excellence in preparing young learners for the future continues today as we expand our related services to include: band, art, drama, and physical education. Interactive white boards and computers are found in every classroom. At Oakstone Academy it is evident children come first as we work diligently to keep the most highly qualified teachers on our team and classroom ratios less then 6:1. With all this said, the real test comes when our students arrive each day with their smiling and enthusiastic faces ready for a new day of learning adventure.
“How many parents have a teenager that wants to go to school? Our son loves Oakstone because he feels the thrill of growth and success. At last, knowledge and understanding is coming to him in a way he can grasp and build on. And, he is learning in an environment where he feels both physically and emotionally secure, where his failures are teachable moments, not points of shame. Oakstone has given our son the doorway into the rest of his life.”
