In compliance with federal and state law, Oakstone Academy has a formal Crisis Management Plan written for each of its three schools. OA utilizes the National School Alert System to notify parents in the event of a crisis during the school day. The NSAS, once notified by a school administrator, will contact parents with instructions on what parents should do to respond. The NSAS will attempt to contact parents using the four emergency contact phone numbers that parents provide at the beginning of the school year. It is important that parents update the school regarding changes to emergency contact information.
If a crisis occurs during school hours that warrants sending students home, parents will be contacted and told where to pick up their student. Parents are also required to sign students out for accountability purposes.
If a crisis occurs outside of school hours resulting in school being cancelled, parents are advised to watch for closings posted on NBC, CBS, or ABC, or listen for closings on WSNY or Sunny 95.
