Q. How do I know if Oakstone Academy will be right for my child?
A. Choosing a school for your child can be challenging, especially when there are many choices. Just as children and their needs are different so are schools in their ability to meet those needs. Oakstone Academy offers a challenging curriculum in an atmosphere that is more personal than you would find at a public school. Small class sizes allow students to set their own learning pace. Highly qualified, licensed teachers help each child reach their full educational potential.
Q. How much does it cost to attend?
A. Other than a small materials fee at the beginning of the school year, there is no tuition for typical students in kindergarten through high school.
Q. What about transportation to/from school?
A. Oakstone Academy does not provide transportation for students. However, many school districts do. Parents must work with their home school district to determine transportation arrangements for their children.
Q. What are regular school hours?
A. Preschool:
Full day students: Monday through Thursday, 9:10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Friday, 9:10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Half day students: Monday through Friday, 9:10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Elementary:
Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Middle/High School
Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.
Q. I understand that some of the students at Oakstone Academy have autism spectrum issues. Why would I want my child to attend?
A. Aside from small class sizes and at least two licensed teachers and a classroom aide, Oakstone is great education. Our curriculum is designed to facilitate learning for a wide range of learning, from the gifted student to the student who requires more assistance. In addition, gifted students are able to work at an accelerated pace, without taking him or her away from their appropriate-aged peer group. Finally, studies have shown that typical students in inclusive settings show an increase in leadership skills, self-esteem and higher fluency in academic performance. (Peck, Carlson, Helmstetter, 1992)
Q. How can I get involved as a parent?
A. There are many ways to get involved. For example, each of our buildings has a PTO that supports various events and fundraising efforts. To find out more, inquire at the front desk of the preschool, elementary or middle/high school building.

Q. Is there a Summer Program at Oakstone?
A. Oakstone conducts an 5-week Summer Program for children in preschool through high school. Children can participate in a variety indoor and outdoor fun activities, all directed by qualified Oakstone staff. Middle and high school students also use this time to participate in community service projects. Tutoring is also available on an individual basis. Full time childcare is offered throughout the summer except for one week.
Q. What is the student/teacher ratio?
A. In most school age classrooms the student/teacher ratio is 18:3. Most classrooms have approximately 18 children and are staffed by two licensed teachers and an aide. Preschool classroom ratios are approximately 14:3. One licensed teacher and two classroom aides.

A. Oakstone strives to provide our students with the very best in curriculum, facilities and teaching staff. Things like classroom materials, equipment, building improvements and teacher salaries require support from our families so that we can continue to serve our students and sustain excellent standards.
